Hoplitis (Alcidamea) acuticornis (DUFOUR & PERRIS, 1840)

Broadly oligolectic. Visiting Vicia villosa, Lathyrus tuberosus, Lathyrus sylvestris, Lotus corniculatus, Medicago sativa and Trifolium sp. (Fabaceae) (Westrich, 1989).

Oligolectic species closely related to species of the family

Banaszak & Romasenko (1998) additionally cite Hippocrepis (Fabaceae) and Stanisavljevic (2000) cites Lotus, Lathyrus, Hippocrepis (Fabaceae).

Müller, A. (2010), Palaearctic Osmiine Bees, ETH Zürich, http://blogs.ethz.ch/osmiini) The species is said to be a strict oligolege of Fabaceae (Amiet et al., 2004; Banaszak and Romasenko, 2001; Westrich, 1989). Indeed, 21 out of 23 pollen samples analysed so far consist of pure Fabaceae pollen; however, two pollen samples of the subspecies hispanica from the same locality contain large amounts of pollen of Boraginaceae (Echium, Anchusa). Thus, the species might be better classified as polylectic with a strong preference for Fabaceae (A. Müller, unpublished, based on 23 pollen samples from 21 different localities).

Mavromoustakis (1948) reports visitation to Vicia faba (Fabaceae) in Cyprus
