Lasioglossum (Hemihalictus) nitidiusculum (Kirby, 1802)

Univoltine, with an extended flight period. Females from mid March or early April to September or October, males from mid June to mid September.

Label data from a few Spanish specimens shows that females are active from (at least) May to July, and males in July (Ortiz-Sanchez & Pauly, 2017).

Parasites: The following aculeates have been listed in the literature as cleptoparasites of this species: Sphecodes geoffrellus [as S. affinis] (Morice, 1901; R.C.L. Perkins, 1923, 1924; Stelfox, 1927; Hallett, 1928), S. crassus [as S. variegatus](R.C.L. Perkins, 1923), Nomada sheppardana [as N. furva](R.C.L. Perkins, 1923; Hallett, 1928; Butterfield & Fordham, 1932) and the chrysidid wasp Chrysis ignita (Gardner, 1901c). The latter record is very doubtful. Specimens of both sexes of this bee are sometimes stylopised (e.g. F. Smith, 1876; Hallett, 1928; Butterfield & Fordham, 1932), possibly by Halictoxenus nitidiusculus (Oglobin, 1924).

Stubbs (2001), citing Verral, suggests that the bee-fly Bombylius canescens may be an inquiline in nests of this species.
