A univoltine species: from the end of May to the beginning of September.
Conservation: It is one of the rarest species of Melittinae in Poland. Not protected by law. To-day known from only three places (Kujawy, Nida River Valley, Kraków-Czestochowa Upland), though it was formerly reported from seven localities in other regions of the country. A decline in its numbers and withdrawal from certain localities is attributed to strong anthropopressure and overgrowing of nesting places. It is recommended to extend legal protection to the sites of Dasypoda argentata (=thoracica) occurrence, stop plant succession in nesting places and make attempts at its reintroduction.
