Univoltine, with an extended flight period. Females are active from late March or early April to mid October, males from mid July to mid October.
Label data from Spanish specimens show that females are active from April to September and males from June to September (Ortiz-Sanchez & Pauly, 2017)
Parasites Sphecodes monilicornis is known to attack cells of this species (R.C.L. Perkins, 1945; Guichard & Yarrow, 1948). Specimens of S. ephippius have been seen at its nest entrances (Chambers, 1949). The species is occasionally stylopized by Halictoxenus cylindrici (R.C.L. Perkins, 1918b).
Marikovskaya (1990) notes possible parasitic species in Kazakhstan are the bees Sphecodes miniatus and S. monilicornis, females of which were caught investigating the nests of L. calceatum.
