A univoltine species. The flight period is from the beginning of June to the middle of August. In Spain, the flight period is from April to September (Ornosa & Ortiz-Sánchez, 2004)
Dathe (1980) recognises H. angustatus punctifrons as a subspecies of the taxon. It is restricted to high Alpine areas on Crete up to 2000m altitude
