A univoltine but long lived species. The phenology of females is typically aestival, whereas the males are more usually encountered in the spring, with a peak of abundance in May.
Both sexes are present from March to October. A second generation of males appears in September and October, and it is this new generation of males that leaves the natal nest to seek a hibernaculum. It is also possible that the new generation of females also leave the nest at this time, although this may be masked by the continues presence of the preceding generation.
