A univoltine species: late March to the beginning of June, rarely July and even August. Dylewska states the species is bivoltine, but this view is unsupported either from specimen data or elsewhere in the literature
Parasites and predators: Host of the cleptoparasitic bee species Nomada lathburiana and Nomada goodeniana (Söderman & Leinonen, 2003). Dylewska (citing Kocourek, 1966) reports that Nomada trapeziformis might also be a cleptoparasite of this species
Stubbs (2001) citing Oates, suggests that the bee-fly Bombylius discolor may be an inquiline in nests of this species.
Notes: There is some suggestion of a recent spread northwards in Finland (Söderman & Leinonen, 2003).
