Univoltine. Females from early June to the beginning of September; males from early August to September. In Switzerland, the females may emerge as early as the beginning of May, and the males from early July (Amiet et al., 2001).
Parasites and predators: None known.
Identification: This species is part of the H. simplex species complex, and records should be based on the distinctive males.
