A univoltine species, flying from April to early June. Mavromoustakis (1951) reports flight activity in Cyprus between March and June.
Parasites and predators None known.
In Hereford and Worcester, this Melecta may be a host of the very rare meloid beetle Meloe rugosus (Whitehead, 1991).
Remarks Melanic or semi-melanic specimens are more prevalent in northern Europe than further south. In the Mediterranean region, the white hair patches on the gastral tergites may be very extensive.
