Queens emerge in mid April (in the south) to early May, producing workers in June and males in July (very rarely in June). The colonies die off in early September.
Parasites: O. Meidell reported various unidentified Diptera within a nest.
Distribution note: The only published Finnish records can be discarded as a mislabelling (Söderman & Leinonen, 2003)
