A transpalaearctic and marginally Indo-Australian species, whose range extends from northern Europe (central Finland) south to the Azores and the Canary Islands and north Africa, eastwards across Asia Minor to the Levant, Saudi Arabia, Mongolia, northern Japan, Manchuria, Taiwan, and south to Malaya (Ebmer, 1988).:
