Distribution; world
This is a transpalaearctic species, distributed from the British Isles to Japan, and in western Europe north to Sweden (Ebmer, 1988). The southern limit of its range is imperfectly known: in the NHML there are specimens from southern France (Massif Central) and Austria. According to Ebmer (1988), the species is found only in mountains in the southern part of its range - reaching an altitude of 2200m in the Alps:
