Halictus (Halictus) rubicundus (Christ, 1791)

Distribution; world
A Holarctic species, found mainly in temperate regions. In the Palaearctic, it ranges from the Polar Circle in Fennoscandia, south to Spain, Italy, Greece and in North Africa (Morocco - High Atlas), and eastwards to northern Japan and Sakhalin. In southern Europe, it is sporadic, occurring only in isolated sites in mountain localities (Ebmer, 1988; Warncke, 1988). Warncke (1988) additionally provides a distribution map of this species in the western Palaearctic. In North America, it is widely distributed from Alaska and the North West Territories, south to California, Arizona, Texas and Florida (Hurd in Krombein et al., 1979).
