Distribution; world
This is an Holarctic species. In the Palaearctic it is widely distributed, but very local, throughout central Europe, from southern Finland (Elfving, 1968) to the Pyrenees, and east to the Urals (Ebmer, 1988); In North America the range extends from Alaska to Nova Scotia, south to Florida and west to north Dakota and Texas (Hurd in Krombein et al., 1979).:
