The species is distributed from Holland and Poland, south across Europe to the Pyrenees (Dylewska, 1987), and east to Czechoslovakia (where it is rare)(Kocourek, 1966) and Turkey (Warncke, 1974).

Abundance; world
There is little information available for the population size and trends of this rare species in Europe. However, in Germany (Westrich et al. 2000, 2011; Esser et al. 2010), some regions of the Netherlands (Rond 2013) and in the United Kingdom (BWARS 2014) its population seems to be stable.
