Widely distributed in Europe, from Holland (van der Vecht, 1928), Germany to Austria, and east to Turkey; also recorded from European Russia. (Morawitz, 1876; Popov, 1951). The species also occurs in North Africa (Morocco):

Due to the taxonomic uncertainty with this species, the current population of the species remains unknown. If Andrena proxima was to retain its current taxonomic status then it would have a wide ranging and possibly stable population.
