Distribution; world
In Europe this species is distributed from southern Fennoscandia (Aurivillius, 1903; Elfving, 1968) south to Spain, and east to Turkey. The species has also been reported from North Africa (Grunwaldt, 1976), Iran (Popov, 1937) and Afghanistan (Warncke, 1973).:

Although populations are presumed to be large, there is no information on the species' trend and most of the published records exceed 20 years in age.
