Widely distributed in the Palaearctic region, from southern Fennoscandia (Aurivillius, 1903; Elfving, 1968), south across Europe to Austria and Switzerland, and eastwards to Russia (Caucasus)(Warncke, 1966), Israel (Warncke, 1969), central Asia, north China and the Far East (Morawitz, 1876; Popov, 1951; Yasumatsu, 1935, 1941). It has also been found in North Africa (Morocco);
