Distribution; world
Very widely distributed across southern and central Europe, from Portugal eastwards to the Black Sea. Outside of Europe, there are isolated subpopulations in Morocco, Tunisia, the Levant (Gusenleitner and Schwarz 2002, Kuhlmann et al. 2014) and Anatolia (Warncke 1974b, Gusenleitner and Schwarz 2002):

Abundance; world
There is no information on either the overall population size or any population trends. However, the species is widespread across much of central and southern Europe and so the population is probably large overall.
