An endemic species in Europe and is known from Portugal eastwards to Slovakia (Rasmont et al. 2013, Kuhlmann et al. 2014, Pittioni et al. 2014).:

Abundance; world
There is no precise information available on the population size and current trend of this species. However, it has declined to the point of being regarded as Regionally Extinct in both the Czech Republic (Farkac et al. 2005) and Switzerland (Amiet 1994)
