Colletes floralis EVERSMANN, 1852

Distribution; world
In Europe and the western Palaearctic this species has an unusual and disjunct distribution. The extant coastal and lowland populations are restricted to the British Isles, and the south coast of Norway, although a further population used to exist on the Baltic coast of Germany at Warnemünde, where it was recorded regularly between 1898 and 1909 (specimens in the DNMHN, Pretoria (P. Westrich, pers. comm.)). It is distributed from Fennoscandia, south to the Pyrenees and the Alps (where it is typical of alpine meadows above 2000 m), and east to Iran (Warncke, 1979), and to the Pamir and Altai mountains of Siberia and Mongolia (Noskiewicz, 1936).
