Widely distributed in Europe and the Palearctic. The range extending from Fennoscandia south to Iberia, and east to northern China (Yasumatsu, 1946; Hirashima, 1957); F.K. Stöckhert (1933) and Moustafa (1979) additionally list North Africa but the map published in Gusenleitner & Schwarz (2002) shows no records from this continent.
