Distribution; world
This is a west Palaearctic species occurring in central and southern Europe, from the British Isles south to Iberia, and east through Germany, Austria and the former Czechoslovakia to Kurdistan, and including Greece and Turkey (Ebmer, 1988; Westrich, 1989). Throughout most of this range the species is confined to montane sites.:
