Disjunctly distributed from eastern Europe to the Caucasus region and Asia Minor (Warncke 1974b). A species with a Pontic distribution:

Abundance; world
There is a scarcity of data available on the population abundance of this species, but it is rare throughout its range and there are only three sub-populations in Europe which are separated from each other with little chance of exchange in genetic material or recolonisation. The number is reduced due to a sharp decrease in the steppe areas in the Crimea (Radchenko, pers comm. 2017)
