Distribution; world
Løken (1973) summarises the species' worldwide range as Iceland, Fennoscandia to north-west Spain, the Balkans, European Russia, Turkey (Pontian Mountains), southern Urals, and onwards to Kamchatka. In Iceland the species is widespread (Prys-Jones, Olafsson & Kristjasson, 1981), and here is presumably adventive.:
