Bombus (Megabombus) hortorum (Linnaeus, 1761)

Distribution; world
Occupies an extensive range in the Palaearctic, from northern Fennoscandia south across Europe to North Africa, and eastwards to Asia Minor, Iran. European Russia, western Siberia and northern Mongolia (Løken, 1973). The species also occurs in south-west Iceland, where it is probably an introduction (Prys-Jones, Olafsson & Kristjasson, 1981). It has been successfully introduced into New Zealand (Gurr,1964).:
