Listed as Near Threatened because the area of occupancy (AOO) is only 56 km2 and although populations in the Balkan Peninsula seem rather stable, elsewhere the species is definitely declining and it may have even become extinct in some countries. Thus the species is close to qualifying as threatened under Criterion B2.
