Osmia (Melanosmia) inermis (ZETTERSTEDT, 1838)

Distribution; world
This is a Holarctic species. In Europe, it belongs to a small group of Osmia species (represented in Britain by O. inermis, O. parietina and O. uncinata), which exhibits an essentially boreo-alpine distribution. F.K. Stöckhert (1933) considers these species to be glacial relics in southern Europe. The range of O. inermis extends north of the Arctic Circle in both Europe and North America (Elfving, 1968; Sakagami & Toda, 1986). In Europe it occurs as far south as northern Spain, and as far east as Estonia, Latvia and Greece (Mt. Olympus) (Warncke, 1988, who also provides a distribution map of this species in Europe). It is also widespread in both Canada and the United States, occurring as far south as Colorado and California (Hurd in Krombein et al., 1979). :
