Distribution; world
The species is widespread in central and southern Europe, its range extending from the Netherlands south to southern Iberia (including Mallorca), and east to Romania ,Asia Minor and the Caucasus. It also occurs in northern Iran (D.B. Baker, pers. comm.). F.K. Stöckhert (1933) and Warncke (1981) record it from north Africa.:
