A species with a ponto-mediterranean distribution. It is found in central, southern and south eastern Europe eastwards to Asia Minor, the Levant and the Middle East:

Abundance; world
A rare and very localised species, with a severely fragmented population, in that there is little chance of genetic transfer between subpopulations, due to its reliance upon salt marshes and other saline habitats.
