Sphecodes crassus THOMSON, 1870

Cleptoparasitic: Hosts; In Devon the species has been found associating with Lasioglossum nitidiusculum (R.C.L. Perkins, 1923) and L. parvulum (R.C.L. Perkins, 1924)(Else & Edwards, 2018)

In 1985 S.M. Crellin collected three very large females on the Isle of Man,and it seems likely that here a larger host is attacked. On the continent, F.K. Stöckhert (1933) observed great numbers of this Sphecodes around the nests of L. pauxillum and reared an especially small form of the cleptoparasite from these. Also in Europe the following species have been reported as possible hosts of this species: L. nitidiusculum (F.K. Stöckhert, 1933), Halictus maculatus and L. fulvicorne (Alfken, 1912).

Celary (1991) lists the following species as possible hosts: Lasioglossum quadrinotatum, L. pauxillum, L. fulvicorne, L. villosulum and L. nitidiusculum.
