Osmia (Pyrosmia) cephalotes MORAWITZ, 1870

Renter: Existing cavities. Nests have been observed in beetle emergence holes in dead olive branches.

Nesting material: Cell partitions and nest plug are made of chewed leaves. Females were also observed to collect pebbles and mud on the ground, indicating that this species occasionally uses a mixture of leaf pulp and pebbles as nest building material as many other Pyrosmia species do or that the pebbles are used to barricade the nest entrance, a behaviour that is known from other Pyrosmia species as well.
