Excavator: Ground. R.C.L. Perkins (1919g) found compact aggregations of this bee. Several females have been observed burrowing into a track in Borders (Clark, 1924).
In Europe, Tkalcu (1974) and Westrich (1989) report this species as nesting in rather small aggregations.
