Osmia (Pyrosmia) submicans MORAWITZ, 1870

Renter: Existing cavities insect burrows in dead wood and drilled borings in wooden blocks; hollow stems (e.g. Phragmites, Rubus); cavities and small holes in rocks and walls; abandoned cells in exposed nests of Megachile (Chalicodoma) parietina.

Nesting material: Cell partitions and closure plug are made of leaf mastic or of a mixture of small pebbles (mainly on the inner side of the plug). Occasionally, the nest plug consists of alternating layers of leaf pulp and tiny pebbles or mud. In larger cavities, the cells are sometimes arranged side by side with the cell walls partially or entirely built of leaf pulp.
