Andrena (Holandrena) labialis (KIRBY, 1802)

Excavator: Ground. The species either nests solitarily, or occasionally in large, compact aggregations, often in a vertical cutting, or in a bare, exposed surface of a hedge bank (R.C.L. Perkins, 1919g). Three females have been observed to use the same nest entrance (Chambers, 1949).

Dylewska (1987) states that in Czechoslovakia the species nests in large aggregations.

Aggregations of 600 nests have been recorded through a surface of 40 m2, with a density ranging from 12 to 43 nests per m2 (Osytshnjuk et al. 2005).
