Anthidiellum strigatum (PANZER, 1805)

Mason. Free standing nests, fixed to plant or rock substrates, made of resin (Bytinski-Salz cited by Mavromoustakis, 1952). The cells are elongate-oval with a long apical spine. This information is also cited by Stanisavljević (2000).

Mavromoustakis (1951) reports a nest of this species attached to a dried head of Allium. The nest consisted of a single cell constructed from resin collected from Cistus villosus creticus, which is the predominating shrub in the locality. The same author (Mavromoustakis, 1948) observed a female closing a nest with resin obtained from Ceratonia siliqua (Fabaceae). The nest consisted of a single cell which was small and elongate. The base of the nest was attached to a wire (used to encircle a garden). The top of the cell had a small, tube-like projection. Cell length c.1cm; tube like projection c4mm. 2 other nests were found in similar circumstances but the resin was obtained from Pinus halepensis (Pinaceae).
