Andrena (Trachandrena) haemorrhoa (FABRICIUS, 1781)

Excavator: Ground. Nests are rarely found, and it is thus presumed that these are scattered about, rather than occurring in aggregations. Overwinters as a newly-emerged adult in its natal cell.

On the Continent, Kocourek (1966) describes the bee as nesting solitarily in banks and overhangs. Small aggregations of nests have also been encountered (Enslin, 1921; Westrich, 1989).
