Excavator: Ground. The species is said to nest solitarily (Kocourek, 1966; Dylewska, 1987; Westrich, 1989), but nests are difficult to locate. R.C.L. Perkins (1919g) once found a small aggregation of about a dozen burrows placed close together.
The species nests in soil on mountainous slopes with southern exposure and forest edges (Kocourek 1966, Osytshnjuk 1977, Osytshnjuk et al. 2005).
