Anthophora (Pyganthophora) retusa (Linnaeus, 1758)

Excavator: Ground. the nest burrows of this species are excavated in sandy banks and occasionally in level soil. Details of the nest and descriptions of the immature stages appear to be unknown, but are probably essentially similar to those of Anthophora plumipes. The winter is almost certainly passed as a newly eclosed adult in its sealed natal cell.
