Dufourea (Dufourea) halictula (Nylander 1852)

Excavator: Ground. Mortimer (1913) describes the species as being protandrous. The males he found were locally abundant and were usually observed at rest on stones or low-growing plants. Within a week the females appeared in equal abundance and excavated their nesting burrows between stones, chiefly on a hard sandy pathway, less frequently in an adjoining sandy, moss-covered bank.
