Anthophora (Lophanthophora) atricilla Eversmann, 1846

Excavator; Ground. In common with other Lophanthophora, this species builds underground nests with strongly tilted or almost vertically orientated cells, which are located at the end of the main nest burrow. The females provision the cells with a semi-liquid mixture of pollen and nectar, which floats above the egg. The walls of the brood cells and its inside lid are covered with a waxy secretion.
