Hofferia (Hofferia) schmiedeknechti (Schletterer, 1889)

Renter: Existing cavities. Hofferia schmiedeknechti was observed to nest in beetle burrows in dead wood (Tkalcu, 1984b). As all other genera of the Heriades group, whose nesting behaviour is known, use resin for cell partitions and nest plug, resin is probably the nesting material of Hofferia as well (the mention of resin by Michener (2007) seems to be a mistake as it is not substantiated by the reference given).
