Bombus (Mendacibombus) mendax Gerstaecker, 1869

The nests are subterranean, the eggs are laid in separate cells (Rasmont 1988).

Aichhorn (1976) notes that Bombus mendax often nests in abandoned rodent's nests, probably of European Pine Vole (Pitymys subterraneus). Aichhorn also reports that the species may occasionally settle in the nests of Snow Finches, Montifringilla nivalis
