Renter: Existing cavities. Nesting in the existing cavities in dead trees or in dry plant stems. It will, however, also use artificial nesting sites.
The nests are built close to each other, forming aggregations. The nest itself is linear, with all cells separated by transverse partitions. They are constructed from oval and round fragments of leaf. In each nest there are 6-8 brood cells. The cells are cylindrical and light-brown in colour, with a flat top (Stanisavljević, 2000).
