Sphecodes niger von Hagens, 1874

Cleptoparasitic: Hosts; Host unknown. G.H.L. Dicker (pers. comm.) has found the species flying about nesting aggregations of Lasioglossum morio in several sites in Kent and it has also been found associating with the same host on the Isle of Wight (Blackgang Chine) (pers. obs.). At the latter site the Sphecodes males had the habit of settling on the ground; females were scarcer and were most easily located by watching for clusters of males rolling over the soil - a female would be in the centre of these. On the continent, Minkiewiez (1935) and Celary & Wisniowski (2001) also suggests L. morio as a host and F.K. Stöckhert (1933) considers L. nitidiusculum to be a possible host of this species (Else & Edwards, 2018).

Celary (1991) lists the following species as possible hosts: Lasioglossum morio, L. nitidiusculum and L. lucidulum.
