Presumably polylectic. Records from Germany are of a male nectaring at Cirsium sp. (Asteraceae) and in Brandenburg, of further records at Asteraceae (Van der Smissen & Rasmont, 1999).
Monsevičius (1995) lists the following forage plants in Lithuania: Hypochoeris radicata, Anthemis tinctoria, Centaurea sp (Asteraceae); Vicia sp. (Fabaceae); Ranunculus sp.(Ranunculaceae); Knautia arvensis (Dipsacaceae); Acer platanoides (Aceraceae); Anchusa (Boraginaceae).
The first Norwegian specimen was found on 5 June 2013 foraging for nectar on Lotus corniculatus (Fabaceae).
Photographs on the Internet show the species visiting Cirsium, Solidago virgaurea (Asteraceae) and a worker foraging at Trifolium repens (Fabaceae).
