Presumed to be polylectic. Flowers visited in Finland include: Andromeda polifolia (Ericaceae); Astragalus alpinus (Fabaceae); Geranium sylvaticum (Geraniaceae); and Taraxacum spp. (Asteraceae) (Söderman & Leinonen, 2003).
In Norway, it is known to forage for pollen and nectar from a variety of different plants, but is particularly fond of Astragalus alpinus (Fabaceae) and other Fabaceae in calcareous areas. Queens are known to visit Salix (Salicaceae)
