Panurgus (Panurgus) calcaratus (SCOPOLI, 1763)

Oligolectic on yellow-flowered Asteraceae; Hieracium has been given as a pollen source by R.C.L. Perkins (1923). Also visits other similar species (possibly for pollen), including Pulicaria dysenterica, Leontodon and Crepis; Pastinaca (Apiaceae) has also been recorded (probably only a nectar source) (Else & Edwards, 2018)

Finnish flower records are from Leontodon autumnalis and Hieracium umbellatum (Asteraceae)(Söderman & Leinonen, 2003). Pekkarinen (1998) lists plants in the following genera of Asteraceae as pollen sources in Finland: Achillea, Calendula, Crepis, Hieracium, Lactuca, Lapsana, Leontodon, Pilosella, Sonchus, Tragopogon, and additionally (citing various authors) states that on the island of Öland (Sweden), this species is a narrow oligolege of Hypochoeris radicata (Asteraceae).
