Oligolectic: Pollen analysed from British females indicates that the species has a tendency to be polylectic, forage species including Sinapis (Brassicaceae); Acer (Aceraceae); Ulex europaeus, Sarothamnus scoparius, Melilotus, Trifolium pratense, T. repens, Lotus corniculatus, Onobrychis viciifolia, Vicia sepium, Vicia faba, Rumex acetosella (Fabaceae); Salix (Salicaceae); Graminae (Chambers, 1968).
In Germany, oligolectic on Fabaceae (Westrich, 1989).
The lectic status is "uncertain in Finland", although Söderman & Leinonen (2003) list only one flower record - Trifolium pratense (Fabaceae). Pekkarinen (1998) lists the following genera as pollen sources in Finland: Lathyrus, Lotus, Trifolium and Vicia. (Fabaceae).
Tomozei & Radchenko (2015), citing others, state that the bee visits primarily Fabaceae (Trifolium, Medicago sativa, Lotus corniculatus); Brassicaceae (Sinapis arvensis); Apiaceae (Daucus); Berberidaceae (Berberis vulgaris); Rhamnaceae (Frangula alnus) and Dipsacaceae (Knautia arvensis) but usually prefers flowers of legumes (Kocourek 1966, Osytshnjuk 1977, Dylewska 1987, Peeters and Reemer 2003). The males of Andrena wilkella are pollinators of Ophrys sulcata (Orchidaceae) in south France, north Italy and Istria (Paulus 2007).
