Oligolectic on a braod sepctrum of Asteraceae.
Visitation has been observed for females visiting Chrysanthemum coronaria, Galactites tomentosa and tall herbacious annual species (cf Sonchus)(Asteraceae)
The species has been recorded on Spergula spp.(Caryophyllaceae) (Saunders 1908). Males have been associated with flowers of Ophrys bombyliflora, O. grandiflora and O. tenthredinifera which employ sexually-deceptive mating strategies (Gaskett 2011).
